Nonmemory
Nonmemory, 2019, object: a glass sphere 12 cm in diameter filled with metal shavings immersed in liquid on a steel base.
My great-grandfather was separated from the rest of his family during World War II and spent 1943-52 in exile in Siberia. Upon his return, he went for months searching for his wife and daughters, who had been displaced during the afterwar turmoil. I tried to find out more about his fate related to Siberia (such as the location of the exile) but without success. Nonmemory is a crystal ball through which I predict the past.
