When I enter the icy water, I experience the world intensely and know that each person around me shares my experience. I wash away the traumas that are not mine with my entry into the water. I let them dissolve. All that matters is the here and now. I repeat the ritual of my ancestors, but already without their fears, I am free. I feel a deep communion with the people around me. If only for a moment.
